Our Representative Assembly (RA) is the elected legislative body of MNEA made up of Association Representatives (ARs) from each building. The RA is held the 1st Monday of every month (2nd if the 1st is a holiday) from 5-6. The purpose of the RA is to deliberate current problems, ideas, and solutions and direct the business MNEA. If you have a member concern, or would like to become one of a team of ARs at your building, please contact the appropriate Tier-Director.

Meilsa is a graduate of Tennessee State University and a proud mother of two beautiful little girls! She has over 9 plus years of teaching experience and most of her work has been done in priority schools. She is proud to serve as your Elementary board of director for MNEA.

Jayne grew up in Bradley County/Cleveland, Tennessee and moved to Nashville in 2004 when her husband got a job with HCA. She has one daughter who's a graduate of John Overton High School and another who's a sophomore there, 4 cats, and 1 dog. She started teaching fourth grade at Dayton City School in Dayton, TN in 1998. Since living in Nashville, she's taught 5th grade ELA/Social Studies and 6th grade Social Studies at W. H. Oliver Middle School. She's been a longtime MNEA member, and is now looking forward to serving the middle school community as the Interim Middle School Director!

Laura Leonard teaches ELD 9 and 10 at Glencliff High School. Before becoming a reading specialist at Belmont University, she graduated from Chapman University in Orange, California with a M.A. in Education-Curriculum and Instruction. She is originally from Iowa where she graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a B.A. in French. She has taught English, ELD reading, French, and content area reading among other courses in both middle school and mostly high school. She has been a member of NEA whenever she was teaching since 1985. When she is not working, she hikes, reads, watches movies, gardens, and cooks.
