Stephen Henry
TEA District 9 Board Member
Stephen Henry began his second term as a district member of Tennessee Education Association Board of Directors on July 1, 2015.  He was president of the Metropolitan Nashville Education Association from July 15, 2011 through July 14, 2015. Before his service as full-time Vice President of MNEA, he was a 6th grade teacher at Creswell Arts Magnet School. He is in the last year of his first three-year term as one of three members of the National Education Association Board of Directors representing Tennessee. Henry has also served MNEA as chief negotiator, Parliamentarian, District 2 (1998-1999), District 3 Director (2001-2006), Finance Officer (2000-2001), and chair of Membership, Bylaws, Public Relations, Special projects, and Bowling for Buddies Committees. He has served on the Tennessee Education Association Executive Committee, the TEA Fund Council, the TEA Human Relations Committee (chair) 

As a national trainer for the National Education Association's Human and Civil Rights Division, Henry has presented workshops throughout the U.S. He also served as the Male Co-Chair and Central Regional Co-Director of NEA's GLBT Caucus, and Vice President of the Tennessee Equality Project, and Secretary of the TEP Foundation. Henry has worked as a professional actor in Nashville and has received the 2000 Outstanding Young Tennessean Award from the Tennessee Junior Chamber of Commerce and the Brotherhood/Sisterhood Elementary Educator Award from the National Council for Community and Justice of Tennessee. Henry was elected by the National Education Association Board of Directors to serve as a delegate to the Sixth World Congress of the Education International, which was held in Cape Town, South Africa in July 2011.
